  1. I’d like to pick up the 2CD In Utero reissue, but the prices are outrageous! $20+ for a two disc set is unacceptable in 2013, especially on release week.

  2. I had a $5 rewards certificate from Best Buy, so I picked up the “In Utero” 2-CD Deluxe this morning. Just got done listening to Disc One. I haven’t compared it to my rare MFSL gold disc yet, but it definitely sounds a LOT better than I was expecting, given the substandard treatment afforded Universal’s “Nevermind” reissue. That one left me sorely disappointed sonically, but “In Utero” is a different story altogether. Very detailed, surprisingly dynamic, and nice and open sounding. My only gripe (if you can even call it that) is that it doesn’t really come alive until you seriously start to goose the volume knob. But, I mean, really, who the hell is gonna listen to “In Utero” modestly anyway? Emotional catharsis of this sort generally doesn’t occur at low volume! 🙂
